Ex-Formula One star Mark Webber says fellow Australian Daniel Ricciardo will excel for Renault in 2020.

But next year? Not so much.

Webber admits he is concerned by Ricciardo’s departure from Red Bull and fears Renault will be just making up the numbers next season.

Webber claims he has even told Ricciardo about his doubts to his face. “I think we’re all a bit concerned about it,” ex-Red Bull driver Webber told Macquarie Sports Radio.

Formula 3 driver Sophia Florsch has revealed only a “miracle” helped her survive her horror crash at 175mph at the Macau Grand Prix last month.

The then 17-year-old fractured her spine after she lost control of her car and it flew through the air and smashed into a fence and a photographers’ bunker in November.

She was airlifted to hospital and underwent a 17-hour surgery to repair two broken bones in her spinal column, one of which is still broken and the other was broken in three places.

Renault will give a first glimpse of the car Daniel Ricciardo will be driving in 2019 on February 12, the French manufacturer has confirmed.

They confirmed their “season launch” will take place at its UK base ahead of pre-season testing in Barcelona on February 18.

It will be the car they hope can close the gap between themselves – who finished a ‘best-of-the-rest’ fourth in 2019 – and the top three.
